Image
Date: August 11 – August 16, 2025 “Teaching is not about filling a pot but lighting a lamp that continues to glow.” The fifth week of my teaching practice at Government HSS Anchalummood was filled with meaningful activities and new beginnings. I successfully completed the remaining activities of Little Things Matter by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and started the poem Hope is the Thing with Feathers by Emily Dickinson. On Monday, August 11th, I continued with the pending activities of Little Things Matter . The students wrote a diary entry as Kalam, describing an evening by the sea, and also worked on if-clause sentences. They were enthusiastic and creative. On Tuesday, August 12th, I carried out the third section of activities. The first task was to list sentences beginning with question words and auxiliary verbs, and the second was to frame WH-questions for the underlined parts in given sentences. The students actively participated. On this day, Anamika Ma’am observed Alina and Aishw...

Weekly Reflection – Fourth Week (FIRST PHASE)

Image
Date: August 4 – August 8, 2025 “Great teachers inspire students to discover the little things that make a big difference.” The fourth week of my teaching practice at Government HSS Anchalummood was more engaging and structured, with a full set of five working days. My association with Class 8F has grown stronger, and I feel increasingly confident and connected with the learners. On Monday, August 4th , I continued with the prose chapter “Little Things Matter” by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam . The students showed keen interest in the text, and I used charts, flashcards, and activity cards to simplify the concepts and keep them active. The focus was on instilling the values of how small actions contribute to larger achievements. During the week, I steadily progressed with the lesson, ensuring that the learners were not only understanding the text but also relating it to their own lives. On Thursday, August 7th , I completed the chapter successfully. This class was particularly impor...

Weekly Reflection – Third Week (FIRST PHASE)

Date: July 28 – August   1, 2025 “Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong.” — Peter T. McIntyre Though this week had only two working days — Thursday and Friday — it was still a valuable one in my journey as a teacher trainee at Government HSS Anchalummood . Every single interaction with my students in Class 8F , my assigned class, continues to help me grow in confidence and clarity. This week, I felt more comfortable and self-assured while teaching. My rapport with the students has grown stronger; they now interact more openly and respond with ease. It’s heartening to see the classroom turning into a space of both discipline and joy. I continued with the prose chapter “Little Things Matter” by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and covered the next portions on both days. On Thursday , I introduced a group discussion activity related to the chapter — a small step towards building student communication and peer learning. The students were engage...
