Weekly Reflection – Fourth Week (FIRST PHASE)

Date: August 4 – August 8, 2025

“Great teachers inspire students to discover the little things that make a big difference.”

The fourth week of my teaching practice at Government HSS Anchalummood was more engaging and structured, with a full set of five working days. My association with Class 8F has grown stronger, and I feel increasingly confident and connected with the learners.

On Monday, August 4th, I continued with the prose chapter “Little Things Matter” by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. The students showed keen interest in the text, and I used charts, flashcards, and activity cards to simplify the concepts and keep them active. The focus was on instilling the values of how small actions contribute to larger achievements.

During the week, I steadily progressed with the lesson, ensuring that the learners were not only understanding the text but also relating it to their own lives.

On Thursday, August 7th, I completed the chapter successfully. This class was particularly important as Amjada Ma’am observed my teaching session. Her presence encouraged me to give my best and maintain clarity and interaction throughout the lesson. The observation was valuable, as it helped me reflect on my teaching style and identify areas to improve further.

Finally, on Friday, August 8th, I assigned the first two activities from the chapter to the students. These activities encouraged them to reflect on the values embedded in Kalam’s writing, and the students responded actively, sharing thoughtful ideas and writing meaningful answers.

This week was fruitful and motivating. Teaching this chapter helped me see how literature can inspire students in their daily lives. I now realize that with the right teaching aids, structured activities, and guidance, lessons can leave a lasting impression on students.

With every week, I feel myself transforming — not just into a teacher, but into a guide who learns as much from the students as they learn from me.
