Weekly Reflection – Third Week (FIRST PHASE)
Date: July 28 – August 1, 2025
“Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong.”
— Peter T. McIntyre
Though this week had only two working days — Thursday and Friday — it was still a valuable one in my journey as a teacher trainee at Government HSS Anchalummood. Every single interaction with my students in Class 8F, my assigned class, continues to help me grow in confidence and clarity.
This week, I felt more comfortable and self-assured while teaching. My rapport with the students has grown stronger; they now interact more openly and respond with ease. It’s heartening to see the classroom turning into a space of both discipline and joy.
I continued with the prose chapter “Little Things Matter” by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and covered the next portions on both days. On Thursday, I introduced a group discussion activity related to the chapter — a small step towards building student communication and peer learning. The students were engaged, enthusiastic, and eager to express their thoughts.
To aid my teaching, I used charts, flashcards, and activity cards, and also included a few games to make the concepts more relatable. These tools not only helped in keeping the class lively but also assisted in reinforcing the values and ideas embedded in the lesson.
My class was observed by Sri Vidya Ma’am, the English teacher of the school, who offered her presence and guidance during the session. Her observations are helping me reflect on my teaching patterns and refine them further.
Although the week was short, it felt purposeful and fulfilling. With each class, I am learning how small strategies — like encouraging questions, inviting group responses, and creating a welcoming space — can make a big difference. I now look forward to the upcoming week with a mind ready to explore more interactive methods and to deepen student involvement.
