NSS CAMP AT FATHIMA MEMORIAL TRAINING COLLEGE MYLAPORE

 









DAY 1 – Inauguration and Service Initiatives

The first day of the NSS camp, meaningfully named Adhikiranam—symbolizing the dawn of new light—marked a promising beginning. The day commenced with smooth registration, followed by a vibrant prayer session that created a calm and reflective atmosphere. The flag hoisting ceremony was conducted by the respected Principal, Dr. M. Omanaseelan, which instilled a sense of pride and enthusiasm among the volunteers.

Following this, Smt. Anupama M. R. delivered a warm welcome address, and Dr. M. Omanaseelan inspired the gathering with his powerful presidential address, emphasizing discipline, dedication, and service. The camp was officially inaugurated by Dr. Devipriya D., whose words motivated the volunteers to uphold the core values of the NSS.

A significant highlight of the day was Akshara Cheppu, a book collection initiative organized in memory of Dr. Anzar A., which reflected the spirit of social responsibility. Dr. Devipriya D. inaugurated the programme, while Dr. Hashimudheen A. shared insightful reflections that strengthened unity among the participants. The day concluded with a vote of thanks by Smt. Asha Rani P., followed by dinner, reflection, attendance, and lights off, marking a meaningful and inspiring beginning to the camp.


DAY 2 – Spiritual Growth and Creative Engagement

The second day of the NSS Special Camp Mizhivu – 2025, themed “Rhythms of Renewal”, was held on 23 December 2025 at Fathima Memorial Training College, Mylapore. The day began with a daybreak call, followed by energizing yoga and Zumba sessions that refreshed the volunteers both physically and mentally.

The volunteers actively participated in food preparation and attended the morning assembly, which reinforced values such as unity, discipline, and cooperation. The key attraction of the day was the inspirational session titled “Bash Bethlora” delivered by Br. Nithin Basil OFM Cap, who encouraged the volunteers to grow in faith and service.

The day also included creative and service-oriented activities such as a crib-making competition and a book collection drive. The programme concluded with an ice-breaking session, dinner, attendance, and lights off, leaving the volunteers enriched and motivated.



DAY 3 – Outreach and Social Awareness

The third day of the camp began early at 5:30 a.m. with physical exercises and yoga, followed by breakfast preparation and the morning assembly. At 10:00 a.m., the volunteers visited the Government Old Age Home (Sadhanam), Kollam, where they organized a joyful Christmas celebration.

The event included cake cutting, distribution of gifts, and cultural programmes, spreading happiness among the residents. After lunch, an awareness session on the POSH and POCSO Acts was conducted by Dr. Hanna John from Sakshi NGO, which helped volunteers understand issues related to safety and legal rights.

This was followed by a lotion-making activity that encouraged creativity and teamwork. The day ended with dinner and lights off at 10:00 p.m., making it a purposeful and enriching experience for all volunteers.


DAY 4 – Learning Through Technology and Community Work

The fourth day of the NSS camp was both productive and engaging. The day began with a refreshing yoga session, followed by breakfast preparations and the morning assembly. Later, the volunteers participated in an interactive session led by Preethi R. on “Future Ready with AI”, where they explored innovative tools transforming the teaching-learning process.

The volunteers were then divided into two groups. One group visited Manasagramam to conduct a survey on the educational status of women above 18 years and distributed cleaning lotion to the community. The second group worked at A.K.M.H.S.S., Mylapore, setting up a library to promote learning and academic growth.

The day concluded with dinner preparations, a review of the day’s activities, and a briefing on the next day’s plan, making it a day filled with learning, service, and teamwork.


DAY 5 – Inspiration and Personal Growth

The fifth day of the NSS camp Mizhivu was marked by enthusiasm and active participation. The day began early with Rise and Shine, followed by Move and Breathe sessions to energize the volunteers. After a collective cooking activity and breakfast, the volunteers gathered for the morning assembly.

At 10:00 a.m., an inspiring session titled “A Teacher is a Candle” was delivered by Dr. Saiju Khalid, highlighting the selfless role of teachers in shaping society. In the afternoon, Anandhu A. conducted a session titled “From Aspirant to Educator”, sharing valuable insights on the journey toward becoming an effective teacher.

The day also included recreational activities such as games, movie time, and group interactions, strengthening bonding among volunteers. The programme concluded with dinner and lights out at 10:00 p.m., making the day balanced, meaningful, and enriching.


DAY 6 – Teamwork and Cultural Expression

On the sixth day, the volunteers woke up early and prepared breakfast. After the Manavageetham (NSS prayer), a game session titled “Alpam Karyam” was conducted under the guidance of Physical Education Instructor Anand T. P. Sir, promoting physical fitness and teamwork.

After lunch, the volunteers were divided into two groups—one group arranged books for the library at A.K.M.H.S., while the other painted the library room, enhancing the learning environment. In the evening, the volunteers had light refreshments and participated in a cleanliness drive around the campus.

The day concluded with a cultural programme, dinner preparation, and lights off around 10:00 p.m., making it a day of cooperation, creativity, and service.


DAY 7 – Valedictory Function

The seventh and final day of the NSS camp marked the valedictory function. The programme began with the flag lowering ceremony, ceremoniously conducted by the College Principal, symbolizing the successful completion of the camp.

Following this, the camp report was presented by the NSS Student Coordinator, Mrs. Arunima M. Das, highlighting the activities, achievements, and learning experiences of the camp. The valedictory function concluded with a sense of gratitude, reflection, and collective pride in the service rendered by the NSS volunteers.
