WEEKLY REFLECTION SECOND PHASE (SECOND WEEK)

 10 NOVEMBER 2025 - 14 NOVEMBER 2025

"The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery.” — Mark Van Doren

This week marked the second week of my second phase teaching practice, and unlike the previous one, it was a full five-day working week from Monday to Friday. Each day offered new learning experiences, new responsibilities, and many meaningful interactions that continue to shape me as a budding teacher.

I handled five classes throughout the week, and with every session, I felt myself becoming more confident, more connected, and more grounded in my role. My rapport with the students has visibly strengthened — they now greet me with excitement, respond actively, and participate with genuine interest.

Academically, I continued with the lesson portions assigned to me and ensured that every class included a balance of explanation, interaction, and reinforcement. I used flashcards, charts, activity cards, and quick warm-up questions to keep the lessons engaging and student-centered.

This week also included several substitution duties and discipline duties, giving me more opportunities to observe different classes, understand diverse learner behaviours, and learn the nuances of classroom management. These duties helped me extend my presence beyond my assigned classroom and gain broader school-level experience.

On Thursday, I took part in the Library Beautification work, which was a refreshing change from the routine. Organizing books, arranging shelves, and helping improve the learning space reminded me that teaching is not confined to the four walls of a classroom — it also involves creating environments that inspire curiosity.

The week remained mostly regular, except for a special event on Friday, when we, the teacher trainees, organized a special assembly for Children’s Day. From planning to execution, being part of this program taught us teamwork, coordination, and creative presentation. Watching the students enjoy the assembly made all the effort worthwhile.

Looking back, this week felt productive, steady, and deeply enriching. With every class I teach and every responsibility I handle, I am learning how to balance instruction, discipline, empathy, and creativity. I now step into the coming week with renewed enthusiasm and an eagerness to explore more effective teaching strategies while continuing to build meaningful classroom connections.
