WEEKLY REFLECTION EIGHTH WEEK (FIRST PHASE )

 Day 29 – Day 33:  22 September - 26 September 2025

“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” – W.B. Yeats

This week marked another significant phase in my teaching practice at GHSS Anchalummood, filled with both classroom learning and co-curricular engagements. I reached school at 9.20 a.m. each day, prepared to continue my teaching journey with renewed energy.

I successfully completed the chapter The Day My World Changed by Malala Yousafzai using ICT-based teaching methods. The use of technology not only enhanced student engagement but also made the text more relatable and interactive. Following the completion, I guided students through various textual activities, which helped reinforce their comprehension.

Another focus of the week was introducing new grammar topics and methods. I used the Direct Method to teach Question Formation and employed the Advance Organizer Model to explain Subject and Predicate. These strategies encouraged active participation and promoted learner-centered teaching.

Beyond the classroom, the week was alive with youth festival preparations. Alongside teaching, I and my fellow trainees helped in organizing the English competitions, assigning chest numbers, and supporting the students during practice sessions. The balance of academic and cultural responsibilities made this week dynamic and rewarding.

Overall, this week reinforced my confidence in ICT integration and innovative teaching methods. It also highlighted the importance of flexibility as a teacher — to move smoothly between classroom teaching and school-level responsibilities.
