Weekly Reflection – Second Week (FIRST PHASE)

Image
Date: July 21 – July 26, 2025 “The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery.” — Mark Van Doren The second week of my teaching practice at Government HSS Anchalummood felt more settled and productive compared to the first. With every class, my confidence is steadily growing, and I’m starting to feel a stronger bond with the students of Class 8F. Though I was absent on Monday and there was a holiday on Tuesday, the rest of the week was packed with meaningful teaching experiences. On Wednesday, I completed the final stanza of the poem “The Seven Ages of Man” by William Shakespeare — the powerful lines beginning with "Last scene of all...sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything." This wrapped up the poem beautifully and gave the students a full picture of Shakespeare's metaphor of life. Friday was dedicated to activity-based learning related to the poem. I introduced games and reflective writing tasks that encouraged students to think about the rol...

Weekly Reflection – First Week (FIRST PHASE)

Date: July 14 – July 17, 2025 “Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions.” The first week of my teaching practice was a journey of discovery, challenges, and small victories. As part of the B.Ed. curriculum, I, along with my friends Aleena and Aiswarya from the English Department of Fathima Memorial Training College, Mylapore, began our internship at Government HSS Anchalummood on July 14, 2025. The atmosphere of the school was very welcoming, and the staff were supportive. This week, we actively participated in various duties including substitution classes, classroom management, lunch serving, and even took on the role of judges for an extempore competition. One of the highlights of my teaching this week was taking Class 8F for the poem “The Seven Ages of Man” by William Shakespeare. While handling the class came with its fair share of challenges, especially in managing discipline, it was a great learning curve. A memorable moment was when we worked together to...

🌍 World Population Day 2025 – A Day to Reflect and Raise Awareness

Image
On 11 July 2025, our college – Fathima Memorial Training College, Mylapore, Kollam – observed World Population Day with our NSS Unit (KL-07-178) leading the way. As an active NSS volunteer, I felt proud to be part of a program that went beyond just celebration — it truly made us think. The day began with a warm gathering in the Seminar Hall, beautifully decorated and buzzing with energy. A thought-provoking quiz competition tested our knowledge about population trends, global statistics, and their effects on society. It wasn’t just a test of facts, but a reminder of how little we often think about such a crucial issue. The debate session that followed was my personal favorite. Students passionately discussed overpopulation, its impact on the environment, and the need for better awareness and policies. Their arguments were sharp, respectful, and deeply insightful. It was inspiring to see how events like these can spark conversations and encourage responsibility. The NSS motto, “Not Me, ...
