WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL DAY CELEBRATION BY NSS UNIT
On June 5, 2025, the NSS Unit (KL-07-178) of Fathima Memorial Training College, Mylapore, Kollam, observed World Environment Day with great enthusiasm, in accordance with the theme “Save Planet, Ditch Plastic.” The programme was organized with the objective of creating environmental awareness and encouraging sustainable practices among students and the wider community.
The celebration began with a sapling planting ceremony held at Nakshatra Vanam, Children’s Park, Kollam, which was formally inaugurated by Smt. Honey Benjamin, Honorable Mayor of Kollam Corporation. Students from various institutions, including the NSS volunteers of FMTC, actively participated in the programme, working together to promote the importance of environmental conservation and the protection of nature.
Following the city-level programme, the FMTC NSS volunteers continued the initiative on their own campus by planting a sapling, symbolizing their ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability. These activities emphasized the importance of eco-friendly practices and highlighted the crucial role of youth in shaping a greener and more sustainable future.
The programme concluded with a strong message stressing the responsibility of every individual to protect, preserve, and nurture the environment for the well-being of present and future generations.
