20th Annual Athletic Meet at FMTC

 


The 20th Annual Athletic Meet of Fathima Memorial Training College (FMTC), Mylapore, for the 2024–26 batch was successfully held on June 13, 2025, at the YCET College of Engineering and Technology Ground, Pallimukku. Organized with great enthusiasm and a strong spirit of sportsmanship, the event marked a significant milestone in the college’s co-curricular activities.

The meet was formally inaugurated by Adv. Ansar Younus, Treasurer, FMET, who hoisted the athletic flag and delivered the inaugural address. In his speech, he highlighted the importance of physical fitness, discipline, and perseverance in shaping well-rounded individuals. The Principal, Dr. M. Omanaseelan, extended a warm welcome to the gathering, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Amal Lal L, College Union Chairman.

The day began on a ceremonial note with the arrival of the Olympic torch, carried by Ms. Annie Panthali John, Sports Secretary. This was followed by a vibrant march past by the three houses—Kaveri, Alakananda, and Mandakini—which displayed discipline, unity, and coordination. The oath-taking ceremony that followed reaffirmed the students’ commitment to fair play and true sportsmanship.

Despite intermittent rainfall, students actively participated in various track and field events with commendable enthusiasm and determination. The meet was efficiently coordinated by Mr. Pramod, Physical Education Teacher, with the dedicated support of the faculty, ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of all competitions.

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, during which Kaveri House emerged as the overall champion, followed by Mandakini House as the runner-up, while Alakananda House secured the third position. In his concluding address, Mr. Pramod, drawing from his 25 years of professional experience, inspired students to view sports as an essential element of holistic development.

The 20th Annual Athletic Meet ended on a joyful and memorable note, celebrating teamwork, perseverance, unity, and the true spirit of sportsmanship that FMTC continues to uphold.
