KERALA PIRAVI DAY

On November 1st, 2024, Fathima Memorial Training College, Mylapore, proudly celebrates Keralayam, a cultural extravaganza dedicated to showcasing the heritage, traditions, and natural beauty of Kerala. Organized by the college union, Keralayam brings the essence of "God's Own Country" to life through a variety of engaging activities and performances that honor Kerala’s unique cultural identity. The event, set to begin at 10:00 am in the college auditorium, will be inaugurated by the college principal, Dr. Lakshmi Natarajan.

Keralayam features a range of programs aimed at immersing attendees in Kerala’s vibrant culture. The highlights include a Malayalam Songs Section, where participants will perform popular songs from the 1980s to the present day, tracing the evolution of Malayalam music. This section promises to be a nostalgic journey, showcasing the timeless melodies of yesteryears along with the latest hits that resonate with the current generation. The performances aim to capture the heart and soul of Kerala’s music scene, providing a delightful auditory experience for all.

Additionally, Keralayam will feature a Naadanpaattu segment, dedicated to Kerala’s traditional folk songs. These songs, often reflecting the daily lives, struggles, and celebrations of Kerala’s rural communities, hold a special place in Kerala’s cultural heritage. The Naadanpaattu performances will transport the audience to the rustic landscapes of Kerala, celebrating the state’s rich agricultural and village life.

Beyond music, the event will also include visual presentations, traditional dance performances, and exhibits that showcase Kerala’s scenic landscapes and cultural symbols. These activities foster a deeper appreciation of Kerala’s values, customs, and history, providing an enriching experience for students and faculty alike. Through Keralayam, the college aims to celebrate the spirit of Kerala, encouraging students to connect with and take pride in their cultural roots.
