COLLEGE UNION AND ARTS CLUB INAUGURATION DAY

On October 30th, 2024, Fathima Memorial Training College, Mylapore, Kollam, held a grand inauguration ceremony for its College Union and Arts Club. This event brought together distinguished guests, faculty, and students in a celebration of leadership, creativity, and community. The College Union was officially inaugurated by Member of Parliament N. K. Premachandran, whose presence added a touch of inspiration to the occasion. Renowned multi-instrumentalist Anunand S took charge of the Arts Club inauguration, encouraging students to explore and express their artistic talents.


The ceremony began with a warm welcome speech by Dr. Lakshmy Natarajan, the Principal of Fathima Memorial Training College, who highlighted the importance of student representation and creativity in building a vibrant college culture. Following this, Sri Shajahan Younus, Chairman of FMET, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the college’s commitment to holistic education that nurtures both academic and extracurricular excellence.

Sri Naushad Younus, Secretary of FMET, provided a keynote address, offering valuable insights on the significance of arts and unity within the college community. His words resonated with students, reinforcing the college’s mission to foster leadership qualities and cultural appreciation.

After the formal inaugurations, the audience was treated to a captivating flute performance by Anunand S, the guest artist. His performance, blending soulful melodies with intricate rhythms, created a mesmerizing atmosphere, leaving the audience in awe. The flute music captured the essence of artistic expression, symbolizing the spirit of the newly inaugurated Arts Club. Anunand’s performance served as a reminder of the power of art to inspire and bring people together.

This memorable event set the tone for an exciting year ahead for the College Union and Arts Club, encouraging students to participate actively in the cultural and leadership activities that make Fathima Memorial Training College a hub of learning and creativity.

The atmosphere of the school was very welcoming, and the staff were supportive. This week, we actively participated in various duties including substitution classes, classroom management, lunch serving, and even took on the role of judges for an extempore competition. One of the highlights of my teaching this week was taking Class 8F for the poem “The Seven Ages of Man” by William Shakespeare. WEEKLY REFLECTION SIXTH WEEK (FIRST PHASE)

The past week of my teaching practice (Days 21–25) was both engaging and rewarding. On Day 21, after the Onam vacation, I taught Articles through the Concept Attainment Model, where students actively discovered rules through examples and non-examples. The following days (22–25) were dedicated to the inspiring chapter The Day My World Changed by Malala Yousafzai, taught using ICT. Each day, I carried the chapter forward step by step, making use of PowerPoint slides, visuals, and activity cards to bring Malala’s story to life. Students were highly motivated, sharing their thoughts on education and courage, which made the lessons more meaningful. I also had varied experiences beyond the classroom, like serving the midday meal, handling substitution hours, and managing double-period sessions.
