Onam Celebration at FMTC Mylapore: A Festive Journey

FMTC Mylapore celebrated the vibrant festival of Onam on September 11 and 12, 2024, embracing the rich traditions and cultural heritage of Kerala. The celebrations began with the first day's event, Onakkalikal, where students participated in a variety of traditional games and activities that included Kannezhuthy Pottum Thottu, Karangikko, and the popular song Neeyo Njano. Laughter and joy filled the air as participants engaged in Narangathiripp and Chaadi Pidicho, creating a lively atmosphere reminiscent of the authentic Onam spirit. The day concluded with a delightful game of Thotto Thattikko, and the traditional Muttayil Pandheru, which brought everyone together in a spirit of camaraderie and celebration.

The second day was marked by the stunning Pookkalam competition, where students crafted intricate flower carpets, showcasing their creativity and artistic talents. The event also featured the Vadamvali, a traditional tug-of-war, which ignited friendly competition among participants.

A highlight of the festivities was the Mega Tiruvathira, graced by esteemed guests, including the Chairman of FMET and the Secretary of FMET, who joined in the celebrations, adding to the joy of the occasion.

Through these vibrant activities, FMTC Mylapore not only celebrated the essence of Onam but also fostered a sense of unity and community among students and staff, making this year’s celebrations truly memorable.
