Freshers’ and Talent Day 2024: A Fun-filled Welcome for the First-Year B.Ed. Students


On August 13, 2024, FMTC Mylapore buzzed with excitement as we, the second-year B.Ed. students, organized a special event for the first-year students—a combined Freshers' and Talent Day. The event was designed not just as a welcome but as an opportunity for the new batch to showcase their hidden talents and get to know their peers in a fun and supportive atmosphere.



As second-year students, we took pride in planning and executing the entire program. We wanted it to be a memorable experience for the freshers, and from the enthusiastic participation we received, it was clear we achieved our goal. The day kicked off with an official welcome, followed by a series of creative tasks and challenges that we had carefully designed to bring out the best in everyone.


The freshers eagerly embraced the various tasks we assigned them. Whether it was singing, dancing, acting, or even impromptu challenges, the first-years enthusiastically took on every activity. The energy in the room was electric as they put their best foot forward, revealing a wide range of talents that left all of us thoroughly impressed.


In between the talent displays, we included fun games and interactive activities, ensuring the day was packed with laughter and team spirit. The bond that started forming among the new batch and between the first and second years was heartwarming to witness. The event was more than just about performances—it was about building relationships and creating lasting memories.


Freshers’ and Talent Day 2024 was a huge success, filled with fun, creativity, and camaraderie. We’re confident that the first-year students left feeling welcomed, appreciated, and more connected, setting the stage for a wonderful academic year ahead.

WEEKLY REFLECTION SIXTH WEEK (FIRST PHASE)

The past week of my teaching practice (Days 21–25) was both engaging and rewarding. On Day 21, after the Onam vacation, I taught Articles through the Concept Attainment Model, where students actively discovered rules through examples and non-examples. The following days (22–25) were dedicated to the inspiring chapter The Day My World Changed by Malala Yousafzai, taught using ICT. Each day, I carried the chapter forward step by step, making use of PowerPoint slides, visuals, and activity cards to bring Malala’s story to life. Students were highly motivated, sharing their thoughts on education and courage, which made the lessons more meaningful. I also had varied experiences beyond the classroom, like serving the midday meal, handling substitution hours, and managing double-period sessions.
